Is there any free software available to download so I can make my own greetings cards with my own photos?

I am looking for something which is easy to use, preferably with ready made templates, so I can make personalised cards for friends and family. I have looked at Adobe Photoshop but it is too complicated - I only need something fairly basic where I can import my photos and type in my captions and greetings and it all appears in the right place on the card when it is printed and folded. I won’t need it enough to justify purchasing expensive software, and I probably won’t even need to edit the pictures other than perhaps cropping to fit, which is why I wondered if there was anything I could download free from the Intenet.
